Despite the title, this version of the Mandelbrot set is monochromatic.
I was looking for something to mess with floating-point operations—something to showcase the ZX Spectrum—and I’ve always liked the Mandelbrot set: this combination of ideas isn’t exactly ideal for the Spectrum, but the journey was worth more than the destination, and if you have patience (or an emulator set to x10000), you might even have some fun.
But what is it?
The Mandelbrot set consists of those complex numbers that, when the recursive function Zn=Zn-1^2+c is applied to them, do not diverge to infinity. When interpreted as Cartesian coordinates, these numbers create beautiful fractal images!
Needless to say, this program also runs on the Spectrums repaired by Sfardo!
